Green Peas Kachori

Ingredients

    For stuffing:
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 2 teaspoon oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoonamchoor powder
  • A pinch turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
    For kachori:
  • 1 cup of Kosh Oats+ Wheat Atta
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to make a dough
  • Oil deep frying

Method

    For stuffing:
  • Pressure cook the green peas and mash it roughly.
  • In a pan, heat oil.
  • Add cumin seeds and once it is crackle, add the minced ginger and green chilli.
  • Add mashed green peas followed by all the other ingredients.
  • Mix well and cook till the raw smell of masala goes off and then cool down.
    For Kachori:
  • In mixing bowl, take a cup of Kosh Oats + Wheat Atta. Add the butter first and rub it using the finger tips till the texture look like breadcrumbs.
  • Now, add water slowly and make a tight but very smooth dough.
  • Keep aside covered using damp cloth for an hour.
    For deep frying:
  • After an hour, divide the dough into equal parts and according to the dough balls divide the stuffing.
  • Now, roll the dough ball into a 12 cm diameter circular disc.
  • Place stuffing (approx. 2 tbsp) inside, gather and seal the edges.
  • Pat it again and flatten into 7 cm diameter disc. Repeat the above steps with the rest of the dough.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Once it is hot but not smoking, add the rolled kachori and immediately reduce the flame into low till both the sides of the kachori cooks well.
  • Drain the excel oil and serve hot with alupalya or any of the tamarind or green chutneys.
