KOSH OATS MIX KHICHDA

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Kosh Broken Oats
  • 2 cups wheat
  • 1 cup jawar
  • 1 cup bajara
  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 1 cup masur dal
  • 1 cup rice
  • 8-10 garlic flakes
  • Ginger paste (as needed)
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 30 gm curry leaves
  • 50 gm coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp hing powder
  • 3 tsp refined ground nut oil
  • 3 medium size onions
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Water (as required)

Method

  • Pour water into a mix of Kosh Broken Oats, wheat, jawar and bajara. Let the mix soak for 2-3 hours.
  • Once soaked, separate water from it and grind it into a coarse/thick mix.
  • Pour water in a pan and the cook broken oats, wheat, jawar and bajara on a lower flame.
  • Gradual, add and blend chana dal and rice into the mix.
  • When the chana dal and rice are half cook, further mix masur dal, turmeric powder and salt mix well and cook well.
  • In another deep frying pan, pour oil and fry cut onions until they turn a light golden brown. Then add cut green chilli, ginger-garlic paste, jeera powder and mix it well.
  • Add red chilli powder, garam masala powder, curry leaves, and hing powder to the mix. Then add above mix to broken oats, wheat, jawar mixture and mix it well. Again, cook for some time on low flame.
  • Once the khichadi is prepared, take some into the plate, squeeze the lemon and garnish with onions, coriander leaves and serve.
