Ingredients

Filling

  • 1.5 cup powdered jaggery
  • 2 cups grated coconut
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp elaichi powder

Dough

  • 2 cups Kosh Wheat + Oats Atta
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • Water for kneading
  • Salt as per taste

Method

Filling

  • Heat a pan at a low flame. Add ghee and saute cardamom powder in it
  • Then add jaggery and coconut and stir.
  • Cook till a thick mixture is formed. Turn the gas off
  • Let the mixture cool

Outer cover

  • Take Kosh Wheat + Oats Atta in a large bowl. Add ghee and salt (as per taste).
  • Pour water in small quantities and knead the mixture into a soft dough. Keep it covered for 15 -20 minutes

Assembling

  • Make small balls from this dough and roll them flat.
  • Place the filling in the centre.
  • Bring the edges together to cover the filling completely. Remove the excess dough
  • Heat oil in a pan. Fry the modaks on medium heat till golden brown
  • Strain them and place them on paper towels to soak the excess oil
