Ingredients

  • 1/3rd cup Kosh Oats Atta
  • 1 cup Wheat Flour
  • ½ cup jaggery
  • ¼ tsp powdered elaichi
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup chana dal
  • ½ cup ghee
  • ¼ cup Water

Method

  • Mix Kosh Oats Atta and wheat flour with water and knead well to make a dough. Keep it aside for 2 hours.
  • Cook the dal in a cooker and let it cool. Once the dal has cooled, add jaggery and ½ tbsp of ghee to it. Cook this mixture on a low flame till the mixture is soft and sticky.
  • Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Stir continuously. You may grind it to get a smooth consistency.
  • Meanwhile, add salt, water and oil to the dough and knead it till it becomes pliable.
  • Take a small lump of the dough and the dal mixture.
  • Roll out the dough into 2 thick rotis using a rolling pin.
  • Place the dal mixture on one roti and cover it with the other. Seal the ends well.
  • Heat ghee on a hot griddle and put the Obbattu/puran poli on it. Cook well on both sides till it turns evenly brown.
  • Your Obbattu/Puran Poli is ready to be served.
