Ingredients

  • 1 Broken Kosh Oats
  • ½ tsp oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • 8 to 10 cashews
  • 1 inch ginger (chopped)
  • 1 green chilies (chopped)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 medium carrots (chopped)
  • 6 french beans (chopped)
  • 5 curry leaves
  • 1 cup green peas
  • Few coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 2 cups water (or as required)
  • 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt as required

Method

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan and add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon urad dal and 2 dried red chillies to it.
  • Once the mustard seeds crackle, add a few cashews, pieces of groundnut and curry leaves. Along with finely chopped onions.
  • Saute the mix until the onions turn to a pinkish hue, then add the chopped chillies, carrots, beans and green peas. Cook for a minute or two.
  • Mix the roasted oats with the above preparation.
  • Stirring lightly, use a pinch of each salt, sugar, and turmeric powder as per your taste.
  • Sprinkle 1-2 cups of water slowly while keep the utensil on a low flame.
  • Covering the dish with a lid for 5 to 6 minutes and let it steam.
  • Once prepared, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and squeeze some lemon juice.
