Vegetable Kozhukattai
made from Kosh Instant Oats.

  • 1 and ½ cup Kosh Instant Oats
  • 2 tsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Channa dal
  • 10 chopped curry leaves
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 1 chopped green Chilli
  • A big pinch Asafoetida
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • ¼ cup grated carrot
  • 3 tbsp sweetcorn/green peas
  • ¼ cup chopped green capsicum
  • 2 tbsp chopped beans
  • 2 tbsp grated fresh coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 3/4 cup water


  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, Channa dal, Curryleaves, Ginger, Greenchilli and Asafoetida. Sauté for few minutes.
  • Add onion and continue sautéing till the onion is soft.
  • Add carrot, capsicum,sweetcorn and beans. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame.
  • Add dry roasted oats and mix well. Add the ¾ cup water and salt to taste.
  • Mix gently, cover and cook it in low flame until the water is completely absorbed.
  • Add grated coconut and fluff it up. Cool down and make oval shape Kozhukattai or dumplings. Sprinkle a little water for making a perfect shaped dumpling if needed.
  • Place the dumplings in the steamer and steam it for 5 minutes.
  • Serve with spicy tomato chutney.
